Richmond is already recognized as having the best logistical network for event organizers, and it just got better! As an airport city Richmond has ample hotels, a close proximity to YVR, thriving downtown sport venues – and now add a bike sharing program to that list.

U-bicycle and the City of Richmond announced that beginning October 12th, 75 bikes and electronic scooters will be available at 15 stations at City Centre, Oval Village, No. 3 Road and Steveston. The system will use a designated smartphone app to locate the nearest bike and station, then unlock the bike for use.

This program will connect a number of Richmond neighborhoods economically, environmentally, and actively. It further adds to the growing infrastructure inventory that makes going car-free in Richmond easy such as YVR, Airport Shuttles, Accessible Neighborhoods, and public transit.

World’s Best Airport

Flying to Richmond means descending into the award-winning Vancouver International Airport (YVR). YVR is just 10-minutes from Richmond’s major venues, and many hotels. YVR connects over 115 destinations, and handles more than 280,000 aircraft landings and take-offs on its runways. This high volume supports more direct flights domestically and internationally. YVR is the only airport to ever win Skytrax Top Airport in North America for eight years in a row (2009-2017).

Richmond Airport Shuttles

Every hotel in Richmond operates a 24-hour complimentary shuttle. Once you arrive at YVR there is not need for the expense of taxis, rental cars, or buses. There has never been anything more convenient for coaches, managers, and athletes.

Canada Line

It has been nine-years since the completion of the Canada Line (Richmond’s rapid transit system), and it is hard to imagine life without it. Riders can easily and efficiently reach downtown Vancouver in 20-minutes. This opens up all the attractions of downtown Vancouver for guests, and accessibility to venues for spectators.

Walking Accessible Neighborhoods

Multiple venues include the Richmond Olympic Oval and Minoru Park which are located within a 10-minute walk of hotels. What’s better? Dozens of award-winning restaurants and two shopping destinations are all walkable in the downtown core.

Richmond is a premiere tourism and event destination because of infrastructure: proximity to YVR, hotel shuttles, accessible neighborhoods, and now bicycles! More than ever it is easy to envision an event where transportation takes less time and budget than ever before!
