Climbing Escalade Canada has announced that Richmond, B.C., will host the 2020 Lead & Speed Nationals on May 16 – 18, 2020 at the Richmond Olympic Oval on the new climbing wall.
With climbing making its Olympic debut in Tokyo 2020, the renovation of a new competition-focused climbing wall at the Richmond Olympic Oval creates the opportunity for Canadian athletes to train and compete at a higher level.
The main features of the wall will be the International-standard lead competition wall, a speed climbing section where athletes can attempt to break the world record, and a recreational area that will attract new participants and develop youth in the sport.
We are excited to work with Climbing Escalade Canada on hosting our first National Championships event, and to welcome athletes, coaches, staff and spectators to beautiful Richmond. We look forward to this new opportunity to further develop our Canadian athletes for years to come at the Richmond Olympic Oval.
