Top 5 Reasons You Want to be at the Petro-Canada Sport Leadership sportif Conference in 2019
The Petro-Canada Sport Leadership sportif conference (#SLS19) is Canada’s conference for coaches, researchers, sport executives, and administrators. It consists of three full days of learning, professional development, and networking with the top minds and leaders of the Canadian sport, business, and education communities.
Richmond Sport Hosting is thrilled to welcome back the Coaching Association of Canada, and all attendees and vendors to Richmond once again, after our success in 2016.
The conference speaks for itself in terms of opportunities to educate, inspire and connect, but here are our top five reasons to attend in 2019!
- Become more resilient
The Coaching Association of Canada has named the theme of this year’s conference as Mission: Resilience. An attribute that athletes, coaches and sport administrators all exemplify and dig deep within themselves to uncover. With plenary speaker, Dr. Andy Van Neutegem, Director, Performance Sciences, Research and Innovation at Own the Podium, breaking down how to Overcome Uncertainty, and the Keys to Organizational Resilience. With shared learning and experiences, together we can all improve our performance, whether it is on or off the field.
- Get inspired by multi-faceted leaders
A roster of exceptional sport leaders in Canada will be sharing their stories, insight and expertise with all delegates. CFL star and three-time Grey Cup Champion, and entrepreneur, Henry Burris shares his life stories and career experience, as he navigated through professional athlete, sports broadcaster, entrepreneurship and his most important role, that of husband and father.
- Winter is coming, but not in BC
With the abrupt shift into fall, there was more bad news from The Weather Network, forecasting that “from the central Prairies to Atlantic Canada, a cold Canadian winter is expected”. Silver lining is that “Western Canada can expect milder temperature during both fall and winter”. Pack your bags and take advantage of the milder weather out here in Richmond.
- Connect with colleagues
Connecting with inspiring sport leaders and fellow colleagues is the backbone of a great development experience. There is no better way to see friendly faces than at the state-of-the-art Richmond Conference Centre. With an on-site Starbucks and fan-favourite Harold’s Bistro and Bar located off the lobby, you can keep the conversations going well into the night or early morning with latte in-hand. Although we don’t suggest both, burnout isn’t just for athletes.
- Continue the Olympic spirit
Join your colleagues for the welcome reception at the crown jewel of the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games – the Richmond Olympic Oval. See how this multi-sport facility continues on the legacy of high-performance sport and engaging the community to be active for life. Catch the annual 3-on-3 basketball game, now open to all conference delegates, and hangout in the lounge space sponsored by Red Bull, all under the coveted Olympic Rings.
