Richmond Sport Hosting, in collaboration with our 10 Richmond Hotel Destination Association (RHDA) hotel partners, is pleased to offer a new incentive program for sport business event planners considering Richmond, BC for their next event.

Significant funding is available for eligible sport business events, including support for pre-event activities such as site visits, as well as event-related costs.

The amount of funding available is determined based on a number of factors, including:

Group size and total number of room nights
Time of year
Anticipated food and beverage spending
Potential for future or additional meetings and conferences
Multi-year commitments and/or multiple events per year

How it Works

1. Complete the application form below.
Provide details about your event and your anticipated requirements.

2. Application review
Richmond Sport Hosting will review your application and follow up with you within 5–10 business days.

3. Receive a Letter of Intent
If your event meets the eligibility requirements, Richmond Sport Hosting will provide a Letter of Intent outlining the proposed funding.

4. Confirm your hotel contract
Once your event is confirmed and you have signed a contract with one of the RHDA hotel partners, submit a copy of the signed contract to Richmond Sport Hosting.

5. Complete the Funding Agreement
Richmond Sport Hosting will then provide a Funding Agreement outlining the approved funding and applicable terms and conditions.

6. Submit your Post-Event Report
Following your event, you will be required to complete a Post-Event Report provided by Richmond Sport Hosting. This is the final step in the funding process.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the Richmond Sport Business Event Incentive Funding:

No blackout dates: Eligible events can take place at any time of year.
Minimum room requirement: A minimum of 25 rooms on the peak night is required.
Apply before signing a hotel contract: An application must be submitted before a contract is signed with a hotel.
RHDA hotel required: The event must be contracted with one of the participating RHDA hotel partners.
Eligible event types: Examples of eligible sport business events include conferences, summits, AGMs, symposiums and tradeshows.
Events not eligible: Sport tournaments, training camps and sport competitions do not qualify for this incentive program.
Post-event reporting: Successful applicants are required to complete a Post-Event Report, including information about the event, its overall outcomes and sustainability initiatives. Richmond Sport Hosting will provide the required report.
Funding availability: Eligibility and funding amounts are determined at the sole discretion of the Richmond Hotel Destination Association and Richmond Sport Hosting. Eligibility requirements may be amended from time to time. Funding is limited and the program may end at any time without notice.
