Thirty years ago, a small group started a 4-on-4 basketball tournament to shine a light on the top high school hoops players in Richmond. This group of friends didn’t want to see the rivalries they had been at the centre of simply be passed off to the next generation, and decades later, many of the same players who played against each other are given one chance a year for bragging rights.

Over the years, the Dolphin Basketball Classic has grown and now welcomes groups from across North America…but the Richmond community remains at the heart of the event. Filmmaker Sean Campbell and his cinematographer Rod Scobie were drawn to the story of friendship and annual battle on the court and have created an award winning documentary weaving together the stories of the participants. It is a must see for anyone who loves a feel good story of what friendship can accomplish through sport.
