If you enjoy Dancing With the Stars and So You Think You Can Dance, this April you will have a chance to experience first hand the glitz and glamour of competitive ballroom dance as the 61st Annual Canadian Closed Championships draws the top dancers from all regions in Canada to Vancouver.
One of the most prestigious dance competitions in Canada, the Canadian Closed Championships attracts top athletes throughout Canada who will vie for the Canadian Title and the right to represent Canada in the World Championships in both the Ballroom & Latin Dance divisions.
The Championship features five Latin dances, including the Rumba, Cha Cha, Jive, Samba, and Paso Doble, and five Standard dances, the Tango, Quickstep, Foxtrot, Viennese Waltz and Slow Waltz. Ranging in age from eight to 80, more than 300 local and Canadian dancers of all levels will participate in two days of competition.
The Canadian Closed Championships is hosted by DanceSport BC, a volunteer-run non-profit society. The competition will take place on the Easter weekend on April 14 and 15 at the Sheraton Vancouver Airport Hotel in Richmond.
