The Richmond Dyke is well known as a place to take a leisurely walk or bike ride. On Sunday, August 10th, the speed limit was raised as some of the best race walkers in the world took part in an International Open competition. Facing a challenging course, competitors were able to enjoy the beauty of the west coast while introducing Richmond to a high level race walk event.
Local Richmond resident Evan Dunfee was the class of the field on the men’s side while New Zealand’s Alana Barber won the women’s senior event. Also strutting their stuff in a junior event were competitors from Canada and the USA.
