What kind of financial assistance is available in Richmond?

The Richmond Sport Hosting Incentive Grant Program provides $100,000 in financial assistance each year to events held in Richmond. For full details and how to apply, visit our grants page.

How far is Richmond from the Vancouver airport?

Richmond is home to the Vancouver International Airport (YVR). As the airport city, Richmond provides access to a number of logistical benefits not available in communities further out such as complimentary shuttles to Richmond hotels.

What can Richmond Sport Hosting do that an event organizer can’t do without them?

Bottom line, an experienced event organizer will be able to take care of business on their own – but they don’t need to. RSH has well established partnerships within the community and often receive preferential rates that are not accessible to outside groups. As well, by contacting the office or completing the Event Request Form our staff can often simplify the process of finding the best venues and accommodation options for you. To find out more about how we can help you, visit our about page.

What is the service fee to use Richmond Sport Hosting?

RSH is a complimentary service provided by the City of Richmond and supported by program partners – Tourism Richmond, Richmond Olympic Oval and the Richmond Sports Council. There are no fees for any of our staff time.

SUSTAINABLE EVENTS

Richmond Sport Hosting is proud to be an active member of the City of Richmond Sustainable Event program. With a greater emphasis now being put on the ability for event organizers to show they are planning to incorporate sustainable event practices into their events, this is an area that is becoming more of a requirement than previously. While most are now somewhat versed in “green” practices, there are many other elements that are part of the overall sustainable event practices you can employ. As a result, Richmond has joined with the Swiss based International Academy of Sport Science Technology (AISTS) to create a number of tools and resources directly for event organizers hosting in Richmond. It is our hope that not only will you have a resource to turn to as you plan for this area of your event, but there are aspects that either the City of Richmond or other partners may be able to provide support.

As a starting point, you can find the 7 Step Quick Guide and Toolkit on the City of Richmond’s Sustainable Event website.
