From November 18 to 22, 2015 the Richmond Centre for Disability will be hosting its 9th annual wheelchair curling bonspiel tournament – 2015 Canadian Open.
Wheelchair curling tournaments have been staged at the Paralympics since the Winter Paralympic Games in 2006 in Turin. The 2014 Winter Paralympics was held in Sochi, Russia from March 7 to 16, 2014. Canada won the gold medal in wheelchair curling at Sochi, while Russia won the silver and Great Britain the bronze medal.
